The Music Ministry of the Oaks provides opportunities for all to participate in making worship music. Attention to text is important in our congregational singing, and the singing of hymns with the use of a hymnal are key elements we deem vital to the worship experience. Our piano and Rodgers organ provide worship music which leads to a reverent yet exciting aura of worship. Worship music include children, ensembles, bluegrass groups, and instrumental music.
MUSIC NOTES
I read a lot:
— Choosing what the congregation sings is important, perhaps more than ever.
— As a parent, time is short. What church music do I want them to take with them in the coming seasons of their life?
— Great hymns don’t apologize the truth of Holy Scripture, nor do they seek to make it more palatable to modern ears.
— God is God and we are not. There is a tendency in modern hymn writing to make too much out of human ability —(Ponder translation — too much me, I, my!)
— Make sure music is worth singing. Does it have meat to sustain us?
Music — the universal language.
After May, our worship will become more “relaxed” and our choir will enjoy some time in the congregation. Our choir and musicians are mighty faithful and talented. Have you thanked them lately?
Want to join us for the summer? Let me know. We would welcome you!
May is busy —everything we do is a privilege —enjoy it!
Rita
“What if we take away the cool music and the cushioned chairs, what if the screens are gone and the stage is no longer decorated? What if the air conditioning is off and the comforts are removed? Would His Word still be enough for His People to come together?
