The Music Ministry of the Oaks provides opportunities for all to participate in making worship music. Attention to text is important in our congregational singing, and the singing of hymns with the use of a hymnal are key elements we deem vital to the worship experience. Our piano and Rodgers organ provide worship music which leads to a reverent yet exciting aura of worship. Worship music include children, ensembles, bluegrass groups, and instrumental music.
MUSIC NOTES
Once upon a time when I received newspapers (remember them!?) at my home I read faithfully The Atlanta Constitution. My favorite writer and columnist of all time still remains Celestine Sibley.
She said of New Years’ Resolutions, “They are far beyond keeping except when one resolves to live one day at a time as best one can.”
Be it diet, addiction, commitment, any kind of change, I agree. It’s even an hour at a time, sometimes.
Church—One Sunday at a time — One Wednesday at a time — Music Rehearsals— one at a time.
Can we do better this year? Can we help our church be better? Can we find our direction back one step at a time?
Can we recognize and renew our talents? (We all have some!)
Can we find our way back to a commitment most of all to “the Joy of our Salvation”, Jesus? He will take us one step at a time. He’s not pushy though and He knows our weaknesses. He knows, just like He trudged that Hill of Golgotha step by step, that this is not easy. There are too many attractions, excuses, rich food, easy outs — Jesus will always be the same!
The Oaks needs us most in 2026 — we have a pastor to find! Will you join all your efforts to support our dear church— Presence means everything! One step at a time—One Sunday at a time —One Wednesday at a time!
“God would like for people to go step by step, led not by their own ideas about life but by God’s word, which comes to them at each step, whenever they ask. There is no word from God for the whole of our life. God’s Word is new and open today and tomorrow, and it can only be related to the moment in which we hear it.”
